Doświadczenie eksperckie - Stefan Szczepan

Stefan Szczepan received his Ph.D. from the University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw, Poland in 2014. His thesis “The impact of immediate verbal feedback on the improvement of swimming technique” concerns the issues related to the importance of the transfer of information in an immediate manner to the learner during the learning process and the improvement of swimming motor functions.
He has participated in numerous of international exchange dealing with the analysis of swimming technique, measurement of human performance and assessment of health in leading academic units such as Faculty of Sport, University of Porto, Portugal; Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Science, University of Granada, Spain; Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw, Poland, Faculty of Sport Sciences, University of Rouen, France; Health and Human Performance Department, University of Wisconsin - River Falls, USA; Department of Physical Performance, the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Oslo, Norway. During this period of research and advice, a lot of subjects including swimmers were tested and evaluated on different levels.

He is the author and co-author of many peer-reviewed research articles and conference contributions related to the teaching of swimming, increases performance swimmers, biomechanics in swimming, physiology of swimming. One of the important achievements is creating new systems of immediately verbal communication with swimmer, new system of concurrent visual speed control in swimming and attempt to the assessment of physiological adaptation of swimmers to training with added volume of respiratory dead space.
He is a coach of University swimming team and teacher swimming all levels. His swimmers compete at the Lower Silesian Inter-University League and the University Polish Championships.
He interests in motor control and learning included motor skill acquisition processes in the water environment, especially forms of instruction, augmented feedback and teaching communication. He builds research background under the mentorship of Prof. Krystyna Zatoń in the area of analysis of swimming technique, application in the acquisition of swimming technique, swimming performance, health at the water environment. Mainly he tackles the problem of the impact of verbal, visual and kinesthetic feedback the efficiency of learning and perfecting of swimming techniques from the preliminary to the qualified sports stages of those swimming process. To objectify research results he uses measurement devices resorted to in biomechanics and physiology sciences.
