Biogram Jerzy Leppert urodził się 5 grudnia 1945 r. w Drohobyczu. Świadectwo dojrzałości uzyskał w VIII Liceum Ogólnokształcącym we Wrocławiu. W latach 1963-1969 odbył studia medyczne na Wydziale Lekarskim Akademii Medycznej we Wrocławiu, otrzymując w czerwcu 1969 r. dyplom lekarza.W 1970 r. Jerzy Leppert wyjechał do Szwecji, gdzie nostryfikował dyplom i w 1973 r. rozpoczął pracę jako lekarz, a w 1976 r. uzyskał specjalizację z medycyny rodzinnej. W latach 1980-1983 dr Leppert był szefem podstawowej opieki medycznej w Västerås. W okresie 1988-1989 był zatrudniony jako ekspert Agencji Produktów Farmaceutycznych w Uppsali. Na emigracji dr Leppert wznowił pracę naukową w 1986 r., kiedy przystąpił do programu badawczego Zakładu Medycyny Rodzinnej Uniwersytetu w Uppsali i wszczął przewód doktorski na podstawie rozprawy „Primary Raynaud's phenomenon in women: epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects”. W 1989 r. uzyskał stopień doktora nauk medycznych. Do 1994 r. dr Leppert pracował w społecznej służbie zdrowia regionu Vastmanland, a następnie objął stanowisko docenta Wydziału Lekarskiego Uniwersytetu w Uppsali, pracując w pełnym wymiarze w zamiejscowym Centrum Badań Klinicznych (w Västerås), którego był jednym z założycieli w 1990 r. W 1999 r., kiedy jednostka ta stała się częścią Uniwersytetu w Uppsali, objął jej kierownictwo. W 2005 r. został profesorem medycyny rodzinnej Wydziału Farmaceutyczno-Lekarskiego Uniwersytetu w Uppsali. W latach 1999-2011 był członkiem rady wydziału, a w okresie 2009-2011 członkiem rady sejmiku samorządowego województwa Västmanland. W pracach odnoszących się do metod diagnostycznych prof. Leppert badał: wartość rozpoznawczą pomiaru systolicznego ciśnienia krwi w palcu w ocenie objawu Raynauda, metody kontroli po zapaleniu ucha środkowego, badanie użyteczności diagnostycznej proktosigmoidoskopii przeprowadzanej w jednostkach podstawowej opieki zdrowotnej w ramach programów przesiewowych, leczenia owrzodzeń kończyn dolnych, rozpoznawania zakrzepicy żył głębokich, sposób indywidualnych zachowań i wiedzę o czynnikach ryzyka chorób sercowo-naczyniowych u osób 50-letnich i pacjentów z zaburzeniami metabolizmu glukozy oraz chorobami sercowo-naczyniowymi. W badaniach z grupy terapeutycznej prof. Leppert oceniał różne aspekty niefarmakologicznego i farmakologicznego leczenia nadciśnienia tętniczego, choroby Raynauda, zawałów mięśnia sercowego oraz wielospecjalistycznej opieki chorych z bólami mięśniowymi i kostnymi. W uznaniu zasług dla wrocławskiej uczelni prof. Jerzy Leppert został w latach 90. XX w. odznaczony Medalem Akademii Medycznej we Wrocławiu oraz Złotą Odznaką Academia Medica (Polish)
Description in another language: Jerzy Leppert was born on December 5, 1945 in Drohobycz (Ukraine). He obtained his matriculation certificate in the 8th High School in Wroclaw. Between 1963 and 1969 he studied medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Wroclaw Medical University and graduated in 1969. In 1970, professor Leppert went to Sweden, where he validated his medical degree and in 1973 began working as a physician. In 1976 he finished his specialization in family medicine. Between 1980 and 1983 served as Head of Primary Care Unit in Vasteras. Between 1988 and 1989 he was employed as an expert of Pharmaceutical Products Agency in Uppsala. In Sweden, he resumed his research work in 1986, when he joined the research program of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Uppsala and opened PhD dissertation titled "Primary Raynaud's Phenomenon in Women: Epidemiological, Clinical and Therapeutic Aspects". In 1989 he received a doctorate in medicine. By 1994 he worked in public health care in Vastmanland region, and then took the position of assistant professor of the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University, working full-time in the branch department of Clinical Research Center in Vasteras. In 1999, when the unit became part of the University of Uppsala, he was appointed its head. In 2005, he was appointed professor of family medicine of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Uppsala. Between 2009 and 2011 member of the Board of Vastmanland County Council. His work was largely centred around studies involving diagnostic value of finger systolic blood pressure measurement in the assessment of Raynaud's disease, control of post otitis media, an investigation of the diagnostic value of proctosigmoidoscopy performed in primary health care as a screening instrument, leg ulcer therapy, the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis, knowledge about cardiovascular risk factors among 50 years old patients and patients with glucometabolic impairment and cardiovascular disease. Professor studied therapy, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, in relation to hypertension, Raynaud's disease, myocardial infarction, and multiprofessional care for patients with musculoskeletal pain. In recognition of his services for Wroclaw Medical University professor was decorated with Wroclaw Medical University Medal as well as with the Gold Medal of Academia Medica Wratislaviensis Polonia.
