Biogram Kierownik Polikliniki Periodontologii na Uniwersytecie Technicznym w Dreźnie. Studia z stomatologii rozpoczął w 1971 r. w Halle i kontynuował je w Dreźnie, uzyskując w 1977 r. dyplom lekarza stomatologa. W latach 1976-1995 pracował w Poliklinice Stomatologii Zachowawczej Akademii Medycznej w Erfurcie. W latach 1976-1980 uzyskał uprawnienia specjalisty oraz obronił pracę doktorską. W 1986 r. został kierownikiem Oddziału Periodontologii Polikliniki Stomatologii Zachowawczej w Akademii Medycznej w Erfurcie, którą to funkcję pełnił do 1995 r. W 1991 r. uzyskał habilitację, a w 1993 r. został docentem. W latach 1995-2009 pełnił obowiązki dyrektora Polikliniki Stomatologicznej, będąc na stanowisku profesora. Od 2007 r. jest kierownikiem podyplomowych studiów na poziomie „Master” z zakresu periodontologii i implantologii. Od 2009 do 2011 r. pełnił funkcję Komisarycznego Dyrektora Poliklinik Stomatologii Zachowawczej, Ortodoncji i Stomatologii Dziecięcej. Od 2010 r. jest dyrektorem Polikliniki Periodontologii Wydziału Lekarskiego Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Dreźnie, w latach 2011-2013 był dyrektorem całej Polikliniki Uniwersyteckiej Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Dreźnie a w okresie 2013-2016 dziekanem Oddziału Stomatologii tego uniwersytetu. Głównymi zagadnieniami naukowymi, którymi zajmował się w pracy były badania: eksperymentalne nad regeneracją przyzębia, epidemiologiczne i mikrobiologiczne w zakresie periodontologii, nad czynnikami ryzyka w periodontologii oraz nad genetyką molekularną występowania agresywnych zapaleń przyzębia. Thomas Hoffmann jest członkiem wielu towarzystw naukowych m.in.: Niemieckiego Towarzystwa Stomatologicznego (DGZMK), Medycznego Naukowego Towarzystwa Akademii Medycznej w Erfurcie, Niemieckiego Towarzystwa Stomatologii Zachowawczej (DGZ), Niemieckiego Towarzystwa Periodontologicznego, Międzynarodowej Fundacji Opieki Zdrowotnej (IHCF), Międzynarodowego Towarzystwa Badań Stomatologicznych (IADR/CED). Jest również honorowym członkiem korespondentem Polskiego Towarzystwa Stomatologicznego. (Polish)
Description in another language: Head of the Periodontology Polyclinic in the University Hospital of the Technical University of Dresden. He started studying dentistry in 1971 in Halle and continued in Dresden until 1977, when he received doctor of dental medicine diploma. Between 1976 and 1995 worked in the Polyclinic of Conservative Dentistry of Erfurt Medical Academy. Between 1976 and 1980 he earned dental specialty and defended his doctoral dissertation. In 1986 became Head of the Periodontology Unit in the Polyclinic of Conservative Dentistry of Erfurt Medical Academy and held this position until 1995. In 1991 he got his habilitation degree and became an associate professor in 1993.
Between 1995 and 2009, as a professor, he held a position of the Director of the Dentistry Polyclinic. Since 2007 Head of postgraduate studies in periodontology and implantology. Between 2009 and 2011 acted as a director of Conservative Dentistry, Orthodontics and Child Dentistry Polyclinics. Since 2010 worked as a Head of Periodontology Polyclinic in the University Hospital of Technical University of Dresden. Between 2011 and 2013 Director of the entire University Hospital of Technical University of Dresden and between 2013 and 2016 Dean of Dentistry Department of the Technical University of Dresden.
His major fields of research include experimental studies on periodontal regeneration, periodontal epidemiological and microbiological studies, risk factors in periodontology, and molecular genetics of the prevalence of aggressive periodontitis.
Member of many scientific societies, including German Dental Association (DGZMK), Medical Scientific Society of the Erfurt Medical Academy, German Association of Conservative Dentistry (DGZ), German Society of Periodontology, International Health Care Foundation (IHCF), and International Association for Dental Research (CED-IADR). An honorary corresponding member of Polish Dental Association. (English)
