Uczestnik I Pułku Strzelców Podhalańskich. Rozpoczął studia we Wrocławiu na Wydziale Przyrodniczym Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego, które po roku przerwał i przeniósł się na stomatologię. Dyplom lekarza stomatologa uzyskał w 1950 r. W 1949 r., jeszcze podczas studiów, został zastępcą asystenta jako pracownik dydaktyczny w Katedrze Stomatologii Zachowawczej. Pracował w tej katedrze aż do 1993 r. W 1955 roku uzyskał dyplom lekarza medycyny. W latach 1955-1962 pracował równocześnie w III Klinice Chorób Wewnętrznych kierowanej przez prof. dr hab. Edwarda Szczeklika. W 1959 r. uzyskał specjalizację I stopnia z chorób wewnętrznych. W 1961 r. uzyskał stopień doktora nauk medycznych, a w 1963 r. doktora habilitowanego. W 1965 r. uzyskał tytuł docenta i objął kierownictwo Katedry. W 1971 r. uzyskał tytuł naukowy profesora nadzwyczajnego, a w 1979 r. profesora zwyczajnego. Uzyskał specjalizację z trzech specjalności - stomatologii zachowawczej, periodontologii i stomatologii dziecięcej i nimi zajmował się w swojej pracy naukowej.
Opublikował ponad 200 prac naukowych, był współautorem 5 podręczników.
Pełnił funkcje w redakcjach czasopism naukowych "Wrocławskiej stomatologii", "Czasopisma Stomatologicznego", "Prac Naukowych AM we Wrocławiu" i "Stomatologie der DDR".
Był prodziekanem Wydziału Lekarskiego w latach 1967-1969, kierownikiem Oddziału Stomatologicznego w latach 1969-1974 i dyrektorem Instytutu Stomatologii w latach 1970-1981. Był prorektorem ds. nauczania w latach 1973-1978.
Sprawował funkcję przewodniczącego Sekcji Stomatologii Zachowawczej i Periodontologii.
Został odznaczony przez Polskie Towarzystwo Stomatologiczne "Złotą Honorową Odznaką" w 1967 r., członkowstwem honorowym i Bene Meritus w 1982 r. Był członkiem honorowym Bułgarskiego Towarzystwa Stomatologicznego i członkiem honorowym Towarzystwa
Stomatologicznego NRD.
Został odznaczony Srebrnym Krzyżem Zasługi, Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, Krzyżem Oficerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, Krzyżem Komandorskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, medalem honorowym Academia Medica Wratislaviensis w 1978 oraz wieloma innymi ważnymi odznaczeniami. (Polish)
Description in another language: Participant of the 1st Podhale Rifle Regiment. He began his studies in Wrocław at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Wrocław but after one year moved to dentistry. He obtained a dentist's diploma in 1950. In 1949, while still a student, he became a deputy assistant as a teacher at the Department of Conservative Dentistry. He worked in this department until 1993. In 1955 he obtained a medical doctor diploma. Between 1955 and 1962 he worked at the same time at the 3rd Department of Internal Diseases headed by prof. dr hab. Edward Szczeklik. In 1959 he obtained the 1st degree specialization in internal medicine. In 1961 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences and in 1963 of a postdoctoral degree. In 1965 he obtained the title of associate professor and took over the position of the head of the Department. In 1971 he obtained the academic title of associate professor and in 1979 full professor. He obtained three specializations - conservative dentistry, periodontics and pediatric dentistry.
He has published over 200 scientific papers and was co-author of 5 textbooks.
He was a member of the editorial boards of the scientific journals: "Wrocławska stomatologia", "Magazyn Stomatologiczny", "Prace Naukowe AM we Wrocławiu" and "Stomatologie der DDR".
He was vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine between 1967 and 1969, head of the Dental Department from 1969 until 1974 and director of the Institute of Dentistry from 1970 until 1981. He was the vice-rector for science between 1973 and 1978.
He was the chairman of the Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology Section.
He was awarded by the Polish Dental Society the "Golden Honorary Badge" in 1967, honorary membership and Bene Meritus in 1982. He was an honorary member of the Bulgarian Dental Society and an honorary member of the Society of Dental Department of the East Germany.
He was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Academia Medica Wratislaviensis honorary medal in 1978 and many other important decorations.
