Description	The paper addresses the general issue of the long-term regional development in a transition country, i. e. Poland. The socio-economic systemic and institutional transition in Poland will not be an isolated process, but concurrent with the global transformation in the world economy, telecommunication, information technology, and transportation, based upon the spread of high technology - the global transformation from the industrial to the information and knowledge era. The long-term regional development issue is considered within the framework of the systemic integration approach applied to the concept of reengineering and the so called 'fifth discipline'. The precepts for such a methodology and their illustrations are shown. (English)
